2019 Shelby Mustang vs. Roush Stage 3
2019 shelby mustang, Hello from your friends at Richmond Ford. We wanted to take a few moments of your time and show you the differences between the two top dog Mustangs you can buy, the track oriented performance Shelby GT350 and the high horsepower supercharged Roush Stage 3. Richmond Ford is the only Roush dealer here in Central Virginia so it’s only natural that we provide you with this review. Let’s get things started and discuss what makes these cars move. First off the Roush Stage 3 is just a beautiful car. What Roush performance has done is taken at top of the line Mustang GT back to their factory and fitted it with some of the best performance parts for the Mustang you can get. The Stage 3 features the 2.
3 liter Roush supercharger that bumps the stock 5-liter Coyote engine from 436 horsepower to a mind blowing 670 horses. With all that go, there has to be some whoa, so Roush outfitted the Mustang with Brembo 6-Piston Brakes. The Roush comes available with either a 6 speed manual transmission or automatic depending on your preferred driving method. Roush also outfits their car’s with a Roush performance exhaust naturally. However, a unique feature is the active exhaust option via this switch right beside the gear shift. With this feature you can change the exhaust note to your preference. The modes are normal where the baffles are closed to sport where they open under acceleration and track where they are wide open.
You can even mate you phone via the Roush app to the car and completely customize the exhaust tune to your liking. The GT 350 has a unique engine for a pony car. The 5.2 liter V8 known as the Voodoo engine is Ford’s venture into the world of the flat plane crank. This allows the GT350 to rev up to 8200 RPM’s before hitting redline. This naturally aspirated engine puts out 526 horsepower and 429 ft.Lbs of torque.
The Brembo brakes provide excellent stopping ability with two piece drilled Iron rotors, 6-Piston front and 4-Piston rear offer no fade even under track condition torture. The GT 350 being a performance track oriented car is only available with a TREMEC 6 speed manual transmission. The GT 350 also offers a variation of the active exhaust with modes for normal driving, waking the neighbors sport mode, and an ear shattering track mode. The exterior features of the Roush really sets it apart from your everyday GT. The stage 3 features the signature Roush hockey stick graphics on the side that come in a variety of colors. There are heat extractors here on the hood along with a center scoop and the classic Mustang scoops on the side of the car and on the side windows as well. Here at the font you notice the difference in the nose.

The Roush keeps the fog lights from the GT though they are moved to the bottom part of the grill. The Roush stage 3 sits lower than stock on it’s 1 way adjustable coil over suspension with an optional upgrade to a 3 way track pack performance set up. Here at the back you see the quad exhausts and a larger spoiler than the stock GT or GT350. The Stage 3 sits pretty on these 20 inch Roush 5 spoke wheels that come in silver or chrome along with 275R tires all around The GT350 shares the same lines as the Roush from the front windshield back but the entire front end of the Shelby is unique to this car. With lighter aluminum front quarter panels a wide open grill for maximum air flow and a lighter and lower hood, you really notice the difference. There is a large heat extractor opening in the center of the front here. There are vents in the side here to allow cool air flow to the brakes and tires.
And of course here at the back you get the massive quad exhausts and a sleek air flow valance. On the deck lid you have a thumbnail of a spoiler but on the track it does the job. The suspension is track tuned and is fully adjustable through 5 modes, normal, sport, track, weather and drag. Whichever way you are leaning we have you covered here at Richmond Ford.
